A "Non-Traditional" College Experience Pt. 1

In today's fast paced world, the dream of a college degree can be demanding to one. In some instances, one may think that college does provide a system to where all students can thrive and ultimately succeed, but in most cases they do not. Today, I will speak to two young ladies of color and ask them, 'what has their college experience been like so far' and also 'what is demanded of them to succeed in this environment'. Their experiences may be different, but their struggle for a college education is the same. Please take a look at the link below to watch their response.

A "Non-Traditional" College Experience Pt. 2

As stated from our interviewees, the college experience can be one that teaches you lessons in ways you'd never imagine. The college experience is not just the "best years of your life", but can also be filled with hardships and triumphs over them. We also learned that one's cultural background could shape one's overall college experience as well, it can impact their sense of belonging to the overall campus culture. In the end both of the students state that their degree is the ultimate goal and one should continue to pursue it, no matter what.

Recap of #DiabloDay

Diablo is one of the most pivotal "four-legged" companions in the area. With great obedience, nice stride, and overwhelming amounts of affection, Diablo proves year after year that good dogs deserve to have their day too.

Diablo's day started like all others, with the exception of more sleep. Instead of going straight to the bowl for food or running to the door for his daily walk, Diablo figured it was time for more sleep.

Upon sleeping majority of his morning away, figured it was time for some food and his daily walk. His owner took him on a long excursion on MSU's campus where he was able to find new territory and animals to interact with.

After his long walk, grub, and some belly rubs from his family, Diablo ends his #DiabloDay celebration with some well deserved sleep in his owner's bed.

#DiabloDay and why it Matters

Today marks Diablo the dog's 4th birthday. Diablo is a highly intelligent mutt that is a lover of toys, tons of sleep, and relaxing belly rubs. As of last year, Diablo has recently lost his friend and mentor Sparky the dog who died from natural causes after living a long 17 years of living. Now a whole year later after that devastating loss, Diablo is able to live a life of self-learning and newfound independence.

For this momentous occasion, there will be live coverage of his adventures throughout the day. To follow along with this coverage, please follow our @D_Thomas_Writes Twitter account for the latest updates regarding our furry friend's big day!
